This is not a course, a coaching programme or a skills workshop.
It’s a small, guided conversation space for trainers who want to slow down, ask better questions and leave with greater confidence in their judgement.
I've designed this for experienced scentwork trainers who care deeply about welfare, communication and sustainable practice.
If you teach scentwork, you’ve probably had these thoughts…
- “I know what I teach, but I want to understand why I teach it this way.”
- “I rarely get to talk honestly with other trainers about the grey areas.”
- “I’m confident on the surface, but I still question my decisions.”
- “I don’t need more drills or protocols. I need space to think.”
Most professional development focuses on doing more.
The Think Tank is about making sense of what you’re already doing.
What the Think Tank is
- A facilitated discussion space, not a lecture
- A small group of peers
- Guided by questions, not answers
- Rooted in real teaching experience
- Calm, respectful and confidential
What it is not
- Not a certification or CPD credit scheme
- Not one-to-one coaching
- Not a content heavy course
- Not about 'fixing' you or your dogs
If you want to be taught, coached or assessed, this isn’t the right space.
If you want to think more clearly and confidently about your work, it might be.
Example discussion themes
- When does motivation tip into pressure?
- What do our dogs learn about us as handlers?
- Where do clients struggle most, and why?
- Are we teaching, or are dogs learning?
- How do we balance ethical practice with commercial reality?
These are not debates to win or problems to solve.
They are questions to sit with, explore and refine together.

My role in the Think Tank
I’m not here to teach you or tell you how to train.
My role is to hold the space.
- Pose thoughtful, sometimes uncomfortable questions
- Keep discussion focused and respectful
- Make sure quieter voices are heard
- Summarise and reflect back what’s emerging
The value comes from the group, not from me performing expertise.
You don’t need to be struggling to join this space.
You just need to care about how you work.
